9 мая – Праздник День Победы
9 мая - самый главный праздник в нашем отечестве - День Победы.
Внезапное и вероломное нападение фашистской Германии на СССР вызвало жгучую ненависть всего многонационального советского народа к гитлеровцам.
Вначале наша страна несла большие потери. В битве полегли тысячи тысяч солдат и мирных жителей - стариков, детей, матерей, погибали в огне города, села. Но государство собрало в стальной кулак волю к разгрому врага. Мы помним хорошо великую битву под Москвой, Сталинградом, героическую оборону Ленинграда, ожесточенную битву танкистов на Курской дуге, ярость нашего воинства под Севастополем. В нашей памяти трудовой подвиг тех, кто ковал Победу в тылу. И вот наступил долгожданный день Великой Победы. Фашистская Германия капитулировала, алое знамя, ознаменовавшее окончание Великой Отечественной войны было водружено в Берлине над рейхстагом. А 9 мая было официально объявлено в СССР национальным праздником - Днём великой Победы советского народа с гитлеровскими захватчиками.
9 мая в столице нашей Родины Москве ежегодно проходит парад посвященной этой незабываемой дате. Ветераны, россияне и многочисленные гости, в том числе и из за рубежа становятся свидетелями грандиозного и волнующего марша теперь уже российского воинства по брусчатке Красной площади. В нем так же участвуют и представители дружеских нам армий, как стран содружества независимых государств, так и из дальнего зарубежья.
По Красной площади пройдут танки, БТРы, артиллерийские системы, комплексы противоракетной обороны, ракетные комплексы стратегического назначения. Над площадью пронесутся российские боевые самолеты, в их числе и эскадрилий «Стрижи» и «Русские витязи». Парады Победы пройдут не только в Москве, но и во всех городах от Калининграда до Владивостока. А вечером мирное небо раскрасят яркие краски праздничных салютов и фейерверков.
Потом долго будут не смолкать песни посвященные этому поистине историческому событию, звучать мелодии в исполнении военных оркестров тех далеких лет.
Нашей стране, российскому народу как воздух нужен мир, чтобы превратить отчизну в могучую высокоразвитую экономическую державу. Но чтобы отстоять мир, мы должны быть к этому всегда готовы. У России всегда должны быть мощно вооруженная Армия и военно-морской Флот.

- Victory Day - a holiday of a victory of the USSR over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. On May, 8th, 1945 act of unconditional surrender of Germany has been signed. On May, 9th it has been declared by the Victory Holiday in commemoration of victorious end of the Great Patriotic War.
What is the war ?
It’s death, pain, losts and tears. Broken lives, which will never see the sun, will never hug the children, will never feel the mother’s care; will never support their wives and husbands. This is the end, for them, for those who died. But not for us, for us this is a victory through tears. This is a victory day-a great day!!
What do people do?
Many people watch the fireworks at night on Victory Day. The biggest parade is in Moscow’s Red Square, showcasing Russia’s military forces. Most veterans wear their medals as they head to the parade or an event organized by a local veteran organization .
Another tradition
Another tradition is to give flowers, usually red carnations, to veterans in the street and to lay wreaths at the war memorial sites
Victory Day is a national holiday in Russia. Public offices, schools and most businesses are closed for the celebrations . There may be changes in public transport routes due to parades and street performances .

Red carnations – blood red is the color of the Soviet flag under which the veterans had fought.
Red Star medal – a military distinction for bravery .
We must remember those soldiers, those brave people who stood up till death for their homes, their country and their believes .
They were not politicians, they were not thinking about anything except protecting their homes.
We must be grateful to those who put their lives on the altar of the USSR victory. We must keep their memory carefully and appreciate everything they did for us, as we are living
just because they are dead.
Victory day is a great day! This is the most important day in our country. It has been 70 years ago but we know and remember those who died for us, who gave us life and hope for the peace and love. Don’t forget those millions which are not with us, but in our hearts.

Everyone needs a rest after hard work and public holidays are simply perfect for that. There are several holidays in spring and one of them is May 9, known in Russia as Victory Day. Since its appearance this holiday has always been grandiosely celebrated. May 9th has a long history. Almost seventy years ago Germany surrendered to the Soviet Union. On this day the Great Patriotic Was in Russia came to an end. More than twenty-five million people died during four years. It goes without saying that the end of this fighting saved many more other lives. That’s why this day is so important for the nation. It is especially cherished by the war veterans. Some of them are still alive. Although they are rather old nowadays, they still eagerly participate in all celebratory events connected with the Victory Day. On this day adults don’t work and children can skip the school. In many large cities local authorities organize military parades and fireworks. Veterans are highly regarded on this day. Younger generation prepares all sorts of performances for them, gives them flowers, postcards and lots of attention. Sometimes they receive honors and valuable presents from the mayor of the city. One of the symbols of this holiday is the Ribbon of Saint George. You can see people in street wearing it. It’s featured even on the cars. Traditionally, concerts and other events are held in the central square or park. Those, who stay at home, watch old Soviet films about the Great Patriotic Wars. Thus, they commemorate soldiers who lost their lives in that cruel war. Those, who bravely fought but survived, were all given Red Star medals.

War of the world is long, so long.
Death is the most force word.
Life and death – all is in the one,
I don’t know when it be gone.
Russia is rich in different traditions. There are dates and events in our country that are memorable to all Russian people. Victory Day is the greatest holiday in our country. It marks the Victory of our country in World War II, the Victory of the Russian troops over the Nazi invaders.
The main celebration is held in Moscow. In Moscow at Poklonnaya Hill was recently constructed the Memorial Complex to commemorate the Victory of our people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The Victory Parade to celebrate the defeat of Hitler Germany was held on here on June 24, 1945 to the roll of drums, soldiers threw down 2 hundred enemy standards in front of the Mausoleum.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It is a simple and dignified memorial to the soldiers who died for the country in World War II. It is here that all delegations lay wreaths. You will see the eternal flame burning at the Tomb and sometimes you
can watch guardsmen here.
In all the towns are decorations, flags and slogans in the streets, in the shop windows and on the front of large buildings. On Victory Day morning there are meetings and demonstrations of the veterans who fought in the Great Patriotic War. On that day there usually is military parade in all big cities of our country. There are a lot of people in the streets and squares. They are all celebrating their holiday. People put flowers at the tombs of the soldiers, who were killed during the war. They lay flowers to those who did not live to see the Victory. War veterans tell the children about the war and how they fought for Victory. In the evening there is usually a holiday salute and a minute of silence to remember all those who did not come back from the Great Patriotic War.
Russian people are open-hearted, hospitable and friendly. Love for freedom has been a national character of our people. When Russia was attacked by the enemy the Russian people rose up in defence of their Motherland.
No enemy has been able to conquer our country!
There are more than 13 “hero-cities” in Russia because they fought so heroically during the war. The great sacrifices which people of these cities and towns made for the freedom and independence of our country, the countless hardships they went through during the war, the selfless efforts in the rear and at the front were not in vain.
Volgograd is a legendary city, because here in 1943 the Soviet Army won the great and glorious victory over the fascists. The symbol of Volgograd is the Mamaev Hill. It was the centre of fighting during the heroic defence of Stalingrad. The centre of Volgograd is the Square of the Fallen Heroes. In the middle of it there is a granite obelisk at the foot of it you can see the Eternal Flame.
I live in a small village Markuchi. It is my Motherland and I love my native place very much. I consider that I am very patriotic and my tiny village is the best place in the world! There is a monument for the Fallen Soldiers in the centre of our village. Every year our inhabitants celebrate the Victory Day. It’s a pity, but there are no war veterans in our village already but we have 5 toilers of the rear.
Many old residents were children during the war, and their life was very difficult. We celebrate all of them, invite them to school on the holiday concert. Young people must not forget the heroes, they must be ready to defend their country against all enemies.
The civilization was not crushed by the World War II and the ruins provided the stimulus to build a way of life again. The people felt free to reinvent themselves.
I appeal to all who hold dear cause of peace:
“Let us stop those who are trying to push the world into an abyss!
Let our voice sound as loud as never before!”
